Chukwuka Nwaneri, known professionally as Kal Afrorock, is an IGBO Biafran American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Born in Abia State, Aba, Biafra and raised in Washington D.C.
Biafra is a tropical and coastal region in the south eastern area of West Africa between Nigeria and Southern Cameroons. Kal Afrorock is a direct descendent of the Ancient Igbo People of Biafra, also known as Ndigbo.
Kal Afrorock music genre of influence includes R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Alternative, Jazz, Afrobeats, Amapiano, and Afro Infusion. Afrorock is a musician known for his sultry voice that melds a melodic flow with his distinctive talent of delivering powerful lyrics with meaning.
Kal early body of work and collaborations can be traced back to the late American Hip-Hop Legend Biz Markie “Weekend Warrior” album. The Album is consist of featuring Artists like P. Diddy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Elephant Man, Erick Sermon, Faison and Kal.
Kal worked closely with Biz Markie on his “Weekend Warrior” album. Kal wrote the hook and starred in the music video of Biz Markie’s single “Bounce,” which also featured Elephant Man. Kal was also featured in the songs “Like a Dream,” “For the DjZ,” and “Turn Back the Hands of Time”.
King Los who was Signed by P. Diddy and Grammy Award Winning Artist Mya, are some of noteworthy Artists that Kal produced and collaborated with in the past.
Kal Afrorock has announced that he’s been working on an album and will be releasing it this coming summer 2023.
